Toolkit Series

The Toolkit Series is a series of fundamental process improvement tools that may be used to achieve business benefit. Each of these tools are also used in as part of Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement disciplines. Each class is a one day seminar, designed especially for those attendees who want to get started developing their process improvement skills but are not ready to commit to one of the larger systems like Lean or Six Sigma.

Each seminar is designed following the same model as our longer courses. Each include a unique combination of lecture and hands on exercises which allow our participants to practice and perfect process improvement techniques in the safety of a classroom setting. This prepares our participants to successfully apply their learnings immediately upon returning to the workplace.

Process Mapping

Process mapping is one of the most fundamental and powerful tools used in any improvement initiative. Proper use of this tool can improve communication, quickly uncover “low hanging fruit” improvements that do not require advanced methodologies to identify and repair.

Root Cause Analysis (8D)

The primary objective of this course is to develop an understanding of the principles and techniques involved in the practice of Root Cause Analysis using the Eight Disciplines technique. Emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of how to facilitate an analysis in a cross functional team environment.

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis is a powerful tool used to thoroughly review the components of a design or process, identify potential causes and consequences of failures, prioritize their importance, and develop countermeasures or design changes to avoid or reduce the effects of the failure. Although FMEA is used most commonly to analyze products and systems it also can be used to analyze processes of any type.
